LingNan Garden: Traditional Lingnan style Chinese park


"Lingnan Garden" is part of Lai Chi Kok Park, located in the reclaimed area of Mei Foo. The architectural design is in Lingnan style, modeling after the traditional layout of courtyards and winding corridors.

How to get there: Take MTR Tsuen Wan Line and Exit at Mei Foo Station, Exit D, turn left and enter the Lai Chi Kok Park area.

After entering Lai Chi Kok Park, walk along the main path.

After about 10 minutes, you can see the Chinese-style wall, behind the wall is the "Lingnan Garden".

"Lingnan Garden" East Gate

Couplets by Guangdong masters such as Liang Qichao, Liu Huadong, Li Wentian and Kang Youwei, are displayed in the garden.

"Phoenix is coming". After entering from the east gate, one of the ten sceneries is "Phoenix is coming". There are two phoenixes on the ground of the square. It means auspicious signs.





The small room in the front hall is equipped with Chinese-style tables and chairs, one table and two chairs.



There is a stone snake on the back of the stone tortoise in the pond, which represents Black Tortoise. It is a legendary animal which composed of tortoise and snake.

Through the arch, we come to "Stars invite the moon." There are many small peak stones in the courtyard, each with its own state, such as squatting, standing, sitting, walking, and lying. Under the moonlight, like the stars invite the moon.

"Go for health", this is a trail made of pebbles. Walking on it can promote blood flow in the feet. However, there are also reports that it is not good for the body, or even harmful, and there are different opinions.

"When the moon rises", the central point of the park, also is the largest pavilion in the park, and TV stations often filming here. On the moonlit night, you can enjoy the scenery of water and moon melting, which is the best time for visiting garden.

"Viewing Clouds and Chase Moon", this pavilion can go up to the second floor and overlook the "Moon Pond".

"Pavilion and Endgames", there is a Chinese chess endgames in the southwest of the park. You can try to solve it.

"The moon is reflected in the stream", due to the difference in terrain, the sound of water gurgling when the stream flows down, the moon shadow at night is dim, and the moonlight reflection in the stream is also a good place to enjoy the moon.

The Chinese-style architecture of "Lingnan Garden" is more distinctive in the busy city, and there is no entrance fee. It is good to arrange a half-day to spend your leisure time here.
